Florence / Tuscany / Pisa

What a great and busy day. We did three cities in one day. We started in Florence. We were amazed at all the beautiful buildings and the detail of them. The majesty of Michealangelo's David Statue is magnificent. The city is beautiful. Tons of high end shops which were closed because it was Sunday. Then we took a drive through the Tuscan hillside to the town of San Gimignano. The city was totally enclosed by walls but once you got in there were shops, restaurants, plazas, and homes. Then, to the extreme delight of the kids, we made a quick stop at the Leaning Tower of Pisa. We missed the last tour to the top which ended up being ok because kids under 14 can't go and the boys would have been heartbroken if we went without them.
Our sweet rental car. We couldn't have done as much as we did without it. I still don't know how we all piled in!

Florence

The Duomo
The detail on the doors and building is just amazing!

The square in front of the museum has statues of artists, sculptures, etc. It was really cool.

The oldest standing bridge in Florence.

Crew found Carousels everywhere we went!

San Gimignano

Pisa

Florence / Tuscany is a HIGHLY RECOMMEND for us. We would recommend one day in Florence and a couple days in the different Tuscan cities. We would love to go back for the horse race in Sienna. 2 hours is plenty for Pisa.

ok. i'm going to sound repetitive here...jen! i seriously know the name, history, dates, etc. of every sculpture and bulding you just posted pictures of! i'm so glad you took so many pictures & posted so many pictures. these posts were serious work and it's totally been the highlight of my evening to see it all. i'm so happy that you guys got this experience.

i just LOVE that you took that picture of Chase "holding up" the tower of pisa, that's classic!

now that you are home...i hope you are all settled in and recovering from jet lag. hopefully you get to stay home and relax over labor day weekend. spend some good time at the beach!

i'm dreaming that when i graduate with my graphic design degree, maybe i'll take my hubby & kids on a trip to all these places! that would be so fun.

I am just in Awe you took your little boys! I only had Savannah who was 12 and Jackie 20 and that was exhausting! Florence is another favorite of mine!
