Pohai Na Keiki Nalu Surf Meet

My boys entered their first body boarding competition today! It was so much fun!
A long day - 7 hours- but worth it. It was an amazing, totally free, event.
The kids all got free tshirts, candy, and ice cream sundaes.
Geoff getting Caden ready for his first heat. The boys were a bit nervous for their first time - just to know where to go, which break to go to, what the different horns were for, etc.

Their first heats were at the same time, but on different breaks.
Luckily we could see them both but it was difficult to video tape them.
Caden (orange shirt) did amazing! He read the waves good all day and positioned himself well. He couldn't do all the fancy tricks the other kids were but he caught some great waves and pulled some tricks of his own. He kept advancing throughout the day which made it exciting for him but........
...rough on Chase. Chase got intimidated by the other kids and was off his game today.
He got out the first round which made the day REALLY long for him as he watched us all cheer Caden on.
Caden had to pass 3 heats to make it to the finals. In the finals, he was bodyboarding with the top 6 kids 9 years old and younger. They all ripped! We were proud of both boys for trying and participating.

Caden ended the day 4th Place OVERALL!
He got a cool trophy which is proudly sitting on his nightstand tonight! :)
