NO on Simpsons!

So I qualify for the WORST PARENT OF THE YEAR award! We had a totally fun day to begin with; skate park, pool, playing with friends, dinner at a neighbors house, Chase taught a lesson on Adam for Family Home Evening, and that's where the cute day ended. We then went to see the Simpsons. Now I know the Simpsons humor can be questionable but my kids really wanted to see it and I foolishly let them without researching it. The movie was not only questionable, it was totally inappropriate!
I should have guessed that from the PG13 rating I didn't pay attention to. Needless to say we had to have a second Family Home Evening on innapropriate media and how we should avoid and leave if we are ever in the situation again. So in trying to make restitution for exposing my kids to that movie I will warn all parents to NOT let your kids see it. NOT a cute cartoon movie!

Chaser Speed Racer!

After getting home late last night, we got to get up at 6:30 for the Countys Swim Meet! But it was worth it. Only the best swimmers in the County compete in this swim meet so there was a lot of steep competition. Each kid can only swim 3 events and Chase chose freestyle, back, and individual medley (1 lap of each of the 4 strokes). He placed 3rd in freestyle, 4th in backstroke, and would have placed 4th in individual medley but got DQed because he did a 1 hand touch after breaststroke instead of a 2 hand touch! He was in tears; so frustrating for a little kid after swimming 4 laps perfect to get DQed in the end for something so silly as a touch of the wall! Oh well, we were so proud of him anyway. Great job, Chaser boy! Oh and for relays, we got 1st in medley relay and then they moved Chase and Boston up to the 9-10 year old division for free relay and the got 5th. Not bad for swimming against kids that are so much older and bigger than them!

Back From Vegas!

Sadly, we are back from Vegas. We had a wonderful week with Geoff's brother, Bryan (poor Kelli had to work). We stayed in a suite at the Wynn and were just pampered all week; massages, poolside cabanas, room service, wonderful dinners, great shopping - it was awesome! Now getting to Vegas was a whole other story. We got a flat tire about 1 hour into the trip. Geoff spent about an hour trying to fix it himself only to find out that the lug nuts on our custom wheels don't fit the pare tire. So AAA towed him all the way back home to get another car while the kids and I played at a Cheveron station in the middle of no where for 3 hours! It was a blast, let me tell you! Now we are home to laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, and more sports for the kids. Busy, busy, busy!

Update

If you are all wondering why I haven't been blogging it's cause our internet has been down the majority of the last 2 weeks. We have had AT&T out twice and our computer guy and hopefully it is fixed now for good. It was amazing to me to realize how much I depend on the internet! I couldn't blog, shop on line, look up phone numbers, find out movie time, check emails, etc. It has been a pain. So anyway, we are having such a busy week. Chase is in all sorts of sports activities this week. Golf Camp 8-9, Swim Team 10-11, Rock Climbing Camp 1-5. He has loved it! Apparently, he is quite the daredevil and a great climber from what I hear. All the kids tell me stories of what Chase was doing that day. He definitely gets that from his dad. I start to shake with fear when I'm about 15 feet off the ground! He didn't have rock climbing on Wednesday so I got a baby sitter for Crew and took my big boys to Seven Peaks. They had a blast but it was just a reminder to me of why I hadn't taken them in a couple years. It was crowded, it smelled, and one whole area got closed down because a kid pooped in the water. I was so ready to get out of there after a few hours so I bribed the kids with a large dippin dots and we left. Monday, I took them to see Transformers which we all loved! Most of all, we are just enjoying some fun time together before they start school next month. Oh and Crew's update - he now has both of his bottom teeth and he is starting to discover the joys of food. He wants to eat everything we are eating and he just isn't big enough yet! Hence most meals for us result in tears for Crew. Any suggestions? I've tried feeding him rice cereal when we eat but he's no dummy; he wants the real stuff!

Happy Birthday, Boston!

What a perfect day! 7-7-7, supposedly one of the luckiest days of the century which also happenes to be Boston's 8th birthday and baptism day! About 150 people were there to support Boston. Both Grandpas gave wonderful talks and then Cory baptized and confirmed Boston. Afterwards, the Taylors hosted a yummy brunch at Riverside. Boston was so cute! I see so much strength and wisdom in this next generation and Boston is a great example of that. I'm sure he will be a great witness of Christ throughout his life. We are so thankful that he is Chase's "best buddy ranger"! (and Caden thinks Boston is his best friend, too) We love you, Buddy and are so proud of your decision to be baptized! Happy Birthday!

4th of July

We had such a great 4th of July! We had a huge block party at our house. We had dinner catered from Tucanos, a bunch of fun games for the kids, fireworks, and an outdoor movie on a big blow up screen. The party didn't end until 12:30 (which means I didn't get to bed until 2)! We have such a fun neighborhood. It was so great to celebrate our freedom and pride in our wonderful nation with people we love.

5 Months Old!

Our little boy is growing up so fast! He had two big milestones last week. He cut his first tooth (bottom middle) and he is eating rice cereal. He is such a happy, funny, pleasant baby. We all just adore him, even Geoff (he normally would choose to just skip the whole baby stage). Now if he wouldn't spit up so much and sleep through the night he would be the perfect child!
